Social platforms allow brands to reach customers directly, but the same speed can amplify impersonation, copied creative, fake promotions, and unauthorized storefronts.
Map official presence
Maintain a list of official accounts, verified profiles, approved campaigns, agencies, spokespeople, and regional channels. Publish clear account information where customers can verify authenticity.
Monitor high-risk signals
Review confusing usernames, copied profile imagery, fraudulent giveaways, payment requests, suspicious customer support messages, and links to counterfeit stores. Prioritize activity that creates consumer or account-security risk.
Preserve the complete profile
Capture the profile URL, handle, visible name, biography, follower data, posts, linked sites, messages where lawfully available, and timestamps. Record platform-specific IDs when possible because handles can change.
Use the correct report type
Impersonation, trademark infringement, copyright misuse, fraud, and account compromise often have separate reporting channels. Choose the supported basis and keep the case number and response.
After removal, continue monitoring reused imagery, link destinations, and related account patterns. Customer-facing guidance can reduce harm while enforcement proceeds.
