Marketplace Intellectual Property Reporting Guide

Prepare accurate marketplace reports for copyright, trademark, counterfeit, and impersonation concerns.

Marketplaces often provide dedicated intellectual property portals, but their forms distinguish between different rights and allegations. Accurate classification improves clarity and reduces avoidable requests for more information.

Identify the issue

Determine whether the concern is copied content, trademark misuse, suspected counterfeit goods, design or patent rights, impersonation, or another policy issue. Use only grounds supported by the rights held and evidence collected.

Capture listing identifiers

Save direct URLs, listing and seller IDs, product variations, price, imagery, description, shipping claims, and timestamps. Preserve the listing before submission because sellers can edit it.

Provide verified rights data

Use the correct owner entity, registration details, protected asset references, and authorized reporter information. Separate unrelated sellers or rights when the platform workflow requires it.

Reconcile outcomes

Record case numbers, removals, rejections, clarification requests, account actions, and relisting. Marketplace reporting becomes more effective when each outcome improves future review and prioritization.
